Short version: I keep simple visit records so I can see how the site is used. I don't sell them, and there are no ads or third-party trackers. Last updated October 20, 2026.
What I collect
Every visit (automatically)
- Your IP address, and the approximate location (city, region, country, time zone) your network provider's address maps to.
- Your browser and device type, language, screen size, and the site or link you came from, including any campaign tags in the link.
- Which pages you open, when, and how long each stays open in a visible tab. This is a timeline of your visit, from the page you arrived on to the last page you left.
- Your results in the training games: which game, how many answers, how many were correct, and your score.
- Which files you download, and when.
Visits are grouped by IP address, not by a cookie or an account. Several people on one network (a household, school or office) can end up in the same record.
What you give me
- Contact form: your name, email and message.
- Download or update sign-ups: a name and email if you choose to give them. Submitting is your opt-in to hear from me about new releases, and you can ask me to stop at any time.
- Saving training progress: your email address, to send a one-time sign-in link, plus your scores and streaks so they follow you between devices.
Why
To understand what people listen to, download and practice, to fix problems, to answer messages, to keep spam and abuse out, and to send updates to people who asked for them.
Cookies and local storage
- A sign-in cookie, only if you sign in to save progress. It is needed for sign-in to work.
- Your browser's own storage on your device, for your training scores and a temporary per-tab visit ID. No advertising or cross-site cookies are used.
Opting out
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the visit and timing tracking described above is switched off. Your IP address is still seen by my host when a page loads, as with any website, and downloads are still counted.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores its data and provides the spam check on the contact form.
- An email service delivers sign-in links and messages to you.
- Google Fonts (one training page) and esm.sh (the audio library on two training pages) receive your IP address when those pages load.
I don't sell or rent your information, and I don't share it for advertising. I may disclose it if the law requires.
Keeping and deleting
Records are kept until you ask me to remove them. Ask for a copy of what I have, a correction, or deletion of your IP record, contact details, account and progress using the contact form. Tell me the IP address or email address involved so I can find it. If you are in the EU, UK or California, you have these rights by law.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information.
